As I sit in my room, I often ponder random thoughts. I’m not gonna lie to you, most of them completely irrelevant and totally weird. But, besides those weird thoughts, I find myself constantly thinking about why do we as a society like to bring others down? Then I continue to check my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. and constantly see someone unhappy with the way they look. Or just the way the feel. Wanting to be someone better, or look like another girl. It has suddenly become clear to me that one of the greatest obstacles we face as women is the trap of comparing ourselves with other women. But you know what? YOU were made that way for a reason. You are the one to bring a smile to someone’s face because you have something special and unique that no one else has to offer!
Don’t get me wrong, of course I have my not so “confident” days and I too find myself getting jealous of someone else’s appearance, or maybe their success in life. WHY CAN’T MY LIFE BE LIKE THAT?! Sure, we’ve all felt that way.
Here are 5 simple ways that YOU can become more confident:
1. Stop comparing!
Stop comparing yourself to others around you. Rather, embrace who you are. Embrace your red hair and freckles that you were born with. Or your beautiful brown eyes. Your naturally curly hair. Your naturally straight hair. Whatever it may be, EMBRACE it.
2. Focus on your passion!
Someone doesn’t agree or like what you want to do with your life?! WELL good thing that it’s your life and NOT theirs! Follow your heart and passion and I promise you, you will find so much happiness!
3. Love yourself!
I cannot stress this one enough!! Rather than bashing yourself and your flaws, learn to embrace them. No one is perfect! Once you learn to love yourself and all your flaws, no one can bring you down about them.
4. Be positive!
Life is far too short to sit around and feel sorry for yourself. Look at every bad situation as a learning experience. Pick yourself up, and move along. Don’t dwell in the past, it is meant to be in the PAST…don’t let it ruin your future girl!
5. Encourage and build up others
See someone looking down or sad? Compliment them! Boost their confidence. You could turn their bad day right around just by some kind words! When you start building others up and encouraging them, you will find that you are happier too!
So there you have it, those are my tips and tricks to you to feel and become more confident. It takes time to build up confidence and a feeling of greatness, but trust me. YOU CAN DO IT. You are beautiful just the way you are.
